A new Midland Energy Library!

The land has been purchased for the new library located across Tennessee Street north of Subsurface Library. For our members convenience there will be ample parking for Midland Energy and Subsurface Library. The libraries will be within walking distance of one another. The new library should be ready sometime in the next year. As soon as we have more details about the new library we will inform our members about the new library's progress.

Here is a brief summary of what will be in the new library.

  • Small and large scale logs for Texas and New Mexico
  • Electric logs on microfiche
  • Sample logs
  • Fusulinid slides
  • Mud logs
  • Scout tickets
Midland Energy Library employees are getting ready for the big move to the our new home. We are integrating all ordivician logs and all small scale texaco logs from the third floor. So it might look a little crazy here at the library as we are trying to do all of our integrating in an ordinary way.

Note: members if you are looking for something here in the library that you think we might have, and you don't find it in our resources, don't hesitate to ask, because it may be here and an employee may be trying to find a place for that particular item.

Overdue logs

In our last newsletter we announced we would be charging for overdue logs and since then we have been inundated with calls and complaints about the charges. We are trying to clear up some of the paperwork left over form last year and we are unsure of what has been returned and what has not. So, that is why some of you are getting phone calls and charges. Please be patient with us. We are trying to get rid of all the unnecessary paper and have to go through an elimination process. In some cases logs have been "misplaced". But, for the most part, everyone has located their logs and returned them.

In the future, we will give a 5 day "grace" period from when the logs are due. After that we will begin charging the 15 cents a day charge.

Some members have really been irate about the library implementing this rule, but because we are missing so many logs, we have to begin monitoring where the logs are when they are returned. Some of these logs have been checked out since June of 2006 never to be returned.

We hope that all the members will bear with us until we get this straightened out.

I would like to say a big "thank you" to Mr. Ed Lookabaugh for being so understanding about our efforts to locate the missing logs. he has been very supportive and to all the members of Midland Energy Library, I hope everyone will begin to see the benefits of our monitoring the logs from the time they are checked out until the time they are returned.

Vacation 2007

The summer months are almost over. So take a vacation and come back to the library to tells us about your exciting time off from work. School is about to begin and before we know it Christmas will be here. So take a vacation, we love to hear from you. If you have taken a vacation and you haven't shared it with us, come by the library and brag to us so the employees here at Midland Energy Library can feel like they have taken a vacation.

P.S. Enjoy the rest of the summer.
